MAGNEX CO.,LTD. is offering the planer fuel cell materials according to requested features from customers.

We supply high temperature resistance alloys for SOFC such as Crofer 22 APU and Crofer 22 H etc. and various materials for PEFC are also available. We also offer technical support and products for photo chemical milling, high precision machinery and bond processing. As products, we supply a SOFC interconnect, a metal mesh, a porous metal, which are contact materials for SOFC interconnect and SOFC MEA electrode.

Novel development of SOFC protective coating ~enhanced durability & high performance~

We succeeded in getting enhanced durability and high performance interconnect and collecting material with Ni-Co Coating by electroplating.

Magnex Co.,Ltd. joined “2010 subsidized manufacturing project for product development” and aimed to develop Solid Oxide Fuel Cell performance and reduce degradation. We succeeded in reducing contact resistance (ASR) of collecting material by Ni-Co coating.

SOFC Interconnect

SOFC InterconnectWe are providing several special alloys( Crofer 22 APU and Crofer 22 H etc.) to meet severe requirement for SOFC which need low electric resistance at the high operation temperature etc..
Various thickness is available in stock and offer surface processing support on request.

● Crofer 22 APU
Crofer 22 APU which is the product of ThyssenKrupp VDM in Germany is available from our stock. The stock size is as below. The Crofer 22 APU is regarded as the best alloy for SOFC interconnect and adopted to major SOFC manufactures and institutes in the world. ● Crofer 22 H
The Crofer 22 H is an improved version of the Crofer 22 APU in terms of creep strength at the operational temperature of SOFC. The other characteristics including the resistance characteristic of the oxidized layer are equivalent to the Crofer 22 APU. The better mechanical characteristics of the Crofer 22 H version enables to use thinner materials for cost and weight saving . The stock plan of the Crofer 22 H version is as below. Processing

For the production of SOFC interconnect by applying under mentioned processing technology, which is able to offer the parts with the highest SOFC interconnect characteristics.

  Photo Chemical Milling : This is the processing without loosing chemical and mechanical characteristics of the materials.  
  Laser Cutting : This is the processing without loosing chemical and mechanical characteristics of the materials.  
  Press Processing: Press processed products can be supplied, which result the best performance for SOFC  
  Machining/Grinding processing : This is the technology which has been cultivated by our magnetic head production.  
  Diffusion Bonding Processing : As the precision machinery sometime has difficulty in producing the SOFC interconnect, diffusion bonding which is treated in vacuum condition is the solution. The diffusion bonding is also useful for air sealing and protecting from penetration of organic compounds.  
  Braze Processing : Metal bonding by brazing metal which is most suitable for braze bonding of SOFC interconnect alloy.  
  Electroplating : We offer a metal plating, one of surface treatment for SOFC interconnect. Co,NiCo,Pt etc.  

PEFC Separator / Heat Sink

We produce a metal separator for PEFC. Graphite & carbon separators are used for PEFC, but these have problems on mechanical characteristic and processing of mass production at thinner processing, also, there is problem on electrical characteristics. On the other hand, stainless PEFC separator is superior to corrosion resistance, vibration resistance and mass production by press machinery. However, there is problem to be solved regarding contact resistance which is made by passivation on stainless steel. We are producing electroplating stainless steel separator. Please contact us for further request on surface processing.

Our PEFC separator has a function of heat sink which enable to protect from overheating of the separator by inner gas / fluid flow made by diffusion bonding process etc. The heat is also transferred effectively.

Metal Mesh

As shown bellow, metal mesh is inserted between SOFC interconnect and SOFC MEA electrode, and is used to keep firm contact with SOFC interconnect and SOFC MEA electrode. Various kind of materials, wire diameter and mesh size are provided, and offering the electro plating processing. Crofer 22 APU for interconnect alloy, pure Nickel, various kind of stainless steel are available. Further more, multi layer metal mesh [bonding mesh] is possible to offer. Please use it for improving SOFC characteristics.

● Electroplating for Metal Mesh
We are producing metal mesh which is treated electroplating by Co, Ni etc. for protective coating of oxidation processing.And also, available Au and / or Pt electro plating.

Porous Metal

Porous MetalPorous metal has air pores inside, it is light specific gravity in volume, it is easy to change the shape by adding the pressure. Therefore, same as metal mesh, it is inserted between SOFC interconnect and SOFC MEA electrode to improve the contact resistance.

We are providing porous metals in Nickel and stainless steels.

Metal Felt

● Metal Felt
It is laminated metal fiber made by sintering processing. It has high temperature resistance and high corrosion resistance.

As for material, SUS316L, Nickel are used. In regard to those materials, please contact us.

Seal Material

Seal MaterialFor SOFC, it is necessary to use the seal material for the purpose of protecting from mixing of the fuel and the air between SOFC inter connector and SOFC MEA, and further more, for the purpose of electric insulation. We are providing under mentioned two kinds of materials.

● Mica
Break the mica in pieces and make the mica sheet in 0.1mm thickness. And laminating up using by Si kind of bonding material. Special feature of mica is never swelled up by high temperature heating and very little of loosing strength after heating. Also it has high water resistance and high electric insulation at high temperature.

● Ceramic Felt
By electrical dissolvent of the raw material of high purity almina & silica, it is made op the fiber as paper ceramic filter. It has somewhat elasticity. You can use it as seal material and gasket. We are providing 0.25/0.5/1/2.5/2/3mm.

Expand Metal

SOFC MEA Expand Metal is foamed from a single piece of metal and has a high efficient conductor..
Same as metal mesh and porous metal, it is used as contact material between SOFC Interconnect and Cell to reduce surface resistance.
